Power Day at Yale School of Medicine has annually strived to serve as a space to discuss power dynamics within the medical establishment and how they can adversely impact patient care. During this year’s Power Day, my now alma mater established an award to “recognize student activists who challenge the status quo and work towards equity, justice, and social change”. It was such a humbling experience to stand alongside my best friend and present The Robert Rock and Tehreem Rehman Activism Award to two incredibly committed and brilliant students, Herbert Castillo Valladares and Jeremiah Cross.
